Wei Zhang is a shareholder in the New York City office. Mr. Zhang has a decade of experience in practicing intellectual property law. He has represented clients spanning from multinational corporations to start-ups in various industries, with a focus on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields.
Notable Representation(s):
Mr. Zhang advises clients on the management of global IP portfolios, including the freedom to operate, invalidity and non-infringement issues, as well as on various regulatory compliance matters. Some of the clients he has represented include Celgene Corp., Genentech, Inc., Boston Scientific Corp., and Purdue Pharma L.P.
Mr. Zhang also performs due diligence investigations in an acquisition, licensing, and technology transfer transactions, and drafts and negotiates commercial agreements. He represented a number of U.S. pharmaceutical companies in acquisitions of both privately held and publicly traded companies. He is also experienced in advising start-ups and investment funds in cross-border licensing and financing transactions.
In addition, Mr. Zhang has represented both U.S. and foreign clients in IP infringement actions and commercial disputes. Some representative matters include advising U.S. companies in invalidation and opposition proceedings in various countries and defending foreign corporations in patent infringement cases in the U.S.
